Community Advisory Board
Mission
The Mission of the GSCN Community Advisory Board (CAB) is to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce the harms of substance use in the Greater Southern California area. This is accomplished by fostering meaningful relationships among people with lived experience, affected individuals and communities, providers, health systems, policy makers, and researchers.
Purpose
The purpose of GSCN’s CAB is to:
(1) Identify and discuss community treatment need and access service gaps, priorities, and other emerging issues related to substance use disorders
(2) Discuss best practices for utilizing community stakeholders to support research studies in the substance use treatment field
(3) Offer feedback on research concepts and other NIDA CTN study-related documents and procedures.
Members
Our CAB is led by our two co-chairs, Sherry Larkins, Ph.D. and Sarah Clingan, Ph.D. In order to foster meaningful relationships between various stakeholders across Southern California, our CAB members are composed of treatment providers, individuals with lived experience, state representation (e.g., payors, policy makers, public health, health departments), and community representation (e.g., faith-based organizations, criminal justice).
